well, i know why they did this. to replace the diode, and the boat works fine short of the buzzer is unplugged and when plugged in it buzzes constantly. its unplugged now. i have tried everything to get it to work right.

unpluged every switch i can find that sends a signal to the buzzer, still buzzes.

so look at these pictures, oh gurus of mpems, and tell me if you happen to see anything out of oridinary, besides the obvious repair to the board.

maybe they used the wrong diode or something. idk.

like i said the boat runs fine....but i would like it to be perfect 100% functional.

none of the wiring looks spliced into or hacked up, so i am lost.

this shows more of under the dash area. you can see the buzzer disconnected. it plugs into an orange and black wired plug, but i don't see those colors on the wiring diagram.

Honestly, if everything but the buzzer works, I would leave it alone. I would be afraid if you get in there and try to mess with that, the boat wont run at all. without knowing exactly what the previous owner has done, it could be a real nightmare. I would fix the exposed stuff, just a matter of time before it gets moisture in and leaves ya stranded.

yeah it was sealed up, i pulled off the hot glue to see what they did. i am going to use something better than hot glue.

and it would be nice for it to beep at me, especially with warnings like overheating, etc....but i get your point.

okay, so going back up to what i said at the top of this thread. there is an orange and black wired plug, which is the only thing i can see that will plug into the buzzer leads. well, looking over the wiring diagrams that is for "auxilary" which doesn't really tell me what it is for.....optional equipment...12v accessory...what. idk.....but it is NOT for the buzzer. that is why it just continuously buzzes when i plug it into that plug.

it should be the tan and purple type wires you see in the picture at the top of the this thread that is comming out of the buzzer. that should be comming from the Deutsch plug. i see them on that Deutsch plug, but not behind the gauge/switch area.

so, can someone show me what theirs looks like on one that hasn't been messed with. does it really plug into the orange and black connector or something else.

oh and i sealed up the MPEM with SkotchCote so that i can still see the diode, but it is now protected. that stuff works great, i used it on my Packard with great results.

orange and black IS for the "auxilary", NOTHING ELSE. I will be going to the shop today and I will look for what color goes to the buzzer, also get you some pics of the MPEM in the boat

Temp sensor

I had a constant buzzer, turned out to be a bad temp sensor on the cykinder head between the spark plugs.

thanks unclejay. i don't even know if i have a problem like yours because i don't have the right plug under the dash to plug the buzzer into. the only thing i have is the orange/black wire which is 12v constant for accessories. it is normally not used. so Shakedown is going to get me a picture of his mpem installed and one from behind the dash so i can see what the buzzer plugs into.

In my SPX a tan wire comes from the hitemp sender on the block to a split where it becomes a Tan/BLack which then goes directly to the buzzer. Try following it from the hitemp sender on the top of the block to find your missing connector. The 12 VDC comes via a purple/tan via the MPEM. Grounding the temp connector causes the buzzer to operate. If the temp sender has low or no resistance the buzzer sounds weakly or loudly respectively. So I agree with unclejay. Measure resistance of temp sender to see if it it above 1 Mohm.. Or just replace it. Mine sounds very weakly all the time so I may replace mine too.
