Hi, I am new here and new to jetskis. Ive bought and built and fixed snowmobiles, quads and dirt bikes for many years. Now I am getting into jetskis. I have already two jetski projects (1998 gsx750,97 xp800) but I am currently looking at a 2002 seadoo gtx DI with a blown motor. What are there value when in running condition? Also what things should I look for and is this a year and model I should stay away from? Any help would be great.

Thanks
Tyler

DI skis are great when they are running.

When they are not, they suck,,,,

The DI engine is very unique, hard to diagnose and expensive to repair compared to others.

I will never own one based on all the negatives I have read on them.

Again, those that have them and they are running well really seem to like them. The key is "running well".

Unless you can absolutely steal the ski, I would count as a negative vote.

Whats a good value. Guy wants 900 obo and needs a motor rebuild

Nope. No way.

If you REALLY wanted a DI as a project I would say 300 tops for a DI ski.

But even then,,,, I would have serious reservations.

I'll bet you put two grand into it by the time you have it running right and that is if you do all the labor.

The motor is the easy part on these. All the other crap will beat you to death on these machines. Like Coastie says, they are great when running, but they SUCK when not

Busted Di ski? Run, dont walk away from it.

The other two skis should keep you busy enough and share a common engine so you aren't having to learn two totally different setups at the same time.
