Hi

I'm selling my 95 gtx and thinking of buying something newer. I would prefer a 3-seater but its not a must.

I was looking at a 2001 gtx di. My questions are:

- Whats the difference between the gtx 'di' and the 'rfi' ?

- Do you guys recomend this model? If not, what alternate models? (99-2001 is what I'm looking for)

- What should I look for when testing or trying these seadoos?

I've owned my 95 gtx for a year now and have very basic mechanical experience like changing spark plugs.

Thank you all in advance

Simon

The Di is "Direct injection"... and it sprays fuel directly in the combustion chamber, under very high pressure. The RFI is a standard fuel injection system.

If you want to do your own work... don't buy either.

Here's the deal:

When a seadoo fuel injection system is working... they are great. They are reliable, and they have the best fuel economy out of any of the large 2-stroke engines. BUT... when there is a problem... it becomes hard to diagnose, and you need some specialized tools to do it. Also... the parts are VERY expensive. One of the first things you may need to do is to change the fuel pump. It's a little over $300 for a new one.

If I was looking for a "Newer" 3 seat ski... I would just get the standard GTX. It's the same ski... with the same 130 hp, 951 engine... but it has carbs. (The standard GTX was available from 99 to 2001)

Just my 2 cents.

heres my advise , make sure you ride it in the water ,, i got a feeling i just got burnt on my recent purchases

Would there be a difference in performance between the standard gtx and the 'di'?
Would you recommend any other seadoo models like the 'gts' or 'rxx'..etc?

Performance...nope. But, the carb model will burn more fuel.

Well... if you want a different model... that's up to you. You asked about a GTX. Since it's all an Opinion... I can't tell you what to buy.

FYI... it will be dam near impossible to find an RXX. They were built in very low numbers, and they were mostly used by the factory racers. (and have been abused) In the past 6 or 7 years... I've only stumbled on a couple... and they always want too much $$$ for them.
