Needing to recover a seat. What have you used? Good, bad or any advise.

I just purchased from M-line.... Ill let you know when I get it, as its supposed to ship out Monday. People tell me not to judge the product by the website as it leave a lot to be desired.

Jet trim is also the other big player from what I understand

I have bought from all over the spectrum lately. I got the fancy "high top" Jettrim and had it professionally installed- over $200. Then yesterday I stapled on a $35 skin in the right color off ebay for $35 shipped. Both turned out great. I guess it is a question of quality vs. price and where you want to be with it.

Jettrim will install there new custom made cover on your seat for $10 if you pay the shipping! That's a hard deal to beat if your going high end.

M-line has the best seam line in my opinion and I've never heard one bad thing about the way they hold up. They look comfy and custom.

I bought a BlackTip custom 3 color cover for about $180 on ebay and paid $80 at a local shop to have it installed. It is high quality material and it looks great.

Not sure what Ski your talking about, But I did a 92XP a while ago & the fit was great from these guys. http://www.freewebs.com/jbjetskicovers
Just need an electric stapler & stainless staples for it. It was pretty easy on the 92. Of course that seat is not complicated at all,
so that helps.....

We have 2 blacktips currently, but my next will be from M-line for sure. Can't comment on the longevity of the blacktips yet, literally had them on a few days

Being a DIYer and doing some upholstery before, I plan on doing it myself. @LouDoo how does the Blacktip hold on to you?

I'm not sure I understand the question, how does it hold on? If you mean how does it hold up, so far good, but this is the first season.

Lou

i've used blacktip on 3 ski's and jet trim on a few as well.
I think they are both comparable, with jet trim getting the slight edge.

LouDoo I guess my question is the seat slick? Do you slide all over the seat? Do you have the non slip or carbon fiber? Or just regular vinyl?

i went with black tip , ill post pictures when i can, but im really happy with the result! and personally i dont find it too slippery.

It holds fine, it's probably just a little less slick than the OEM. Sheridan holds on tight, she's in the second picture.

Lou

Lou, what kind of staples did you use , like what length? i dont think i used long enough ones, cause my friend plopped down on it the other day and a couple popped out.

I used the same staples, Arrow T50, 3/8" Stainless Steel they should have them in stock at Lowes or Home Depot.

Lou

Lou, I guess that would have been more helpful if I mentioned where I purchased them. Ooops. Home depot here too.

i'm going to retract my earlier recommendation of Blacktip for ski covers. just installed one on a 97xp and honestly, i wasn't impressed this time around, this is my 4th set and the other 3 times, I had a guy install them for me since the price was really reasonable and he lives close to me, but he since moved. (grrr) after my install I called my guy and asked him about his opinions on blacktip and he point blank said, I hated doing your seats since i'm not a fan of blacktip, and basically said, money was money so he didn't b1tch to me about the seat's I was buying, just did the work and moved on.

the vinyl wasn't really that nice, a little thin IMO, and there was a stitch stop/start right smack dab in the middle on the top. the BT logo's weren't even in the same spot on either side, one was a little lower and more to the front than the other, granted nobody will ever notice but me, but I hate it when they let me down on the little stuff like that.

lastly, this was the first one I put on a yellow seadoo, and the friggen yellow doesn't match, its more orange/yellow than bright yellow and I was disappointed. I set the yellow up against a jet trim seat cover and jet trim's yellow was spot on, but not black tips.

i'll still cool with BT mats, but I will not order another BT seat cover, I think the extra few bucks can be spent on a better seat.

granted the job was still done in a half hour and they didn't short me on fabric, but i would have really preferred a little bit better quality vinyl and Definitely preferred a seat that matched seadoo yellow.

So i think for my next seat i'll lean towards jet trim or drop them off for a custom seat, since if you know the right guy, a custom seat isn't that much more.

sorry blacktip, you just lost a customer.
