Do I have to put sealant on the exhaust manifold gasket, before bolting it on the engine?

If yes what type of sealant?

I did not use any sealants on gaskets when I installed my motor. Most important thing is torque to spec where you can, and make sure the gasket surfaces are clean.

They are just talking about where the stock pipe separates. If you still are using that Coffman's then you have no copper ring.

when I removed the exhaust manifold to change the engines base gasket, the shop that installed the engine used a black sealant on the exhaust manifold and I wanted to know if it's recommended that I do the same?

Yes I do have a Coffman pipe, put only unattached it at the manifold.

Thanks Matt and all others for your help...
