Seadoo XP or SPX

Hi guys. Im new here. Looking to get an inexpensive ski to have fun with.

There is a guy local to me selling a 1995 Sea-doo. His description says 1995 Bombardier XP. But the decals on it says SPX. The decals don't look 30 years old. Perhaps it was replaced.

Every time I try looking up 1995 SPX shows picture of XP. Can anyone confirm what I should be looking at when I go see this?

95 XP will have 717 engine, 95 SPX will have 657x engine. There is a black hull identification number on the back of the ski, the last 2 digits indicate the year. There will be a plate on the magneto cover that will tell you what engine it has. Those are not OEM de als for a 95XP but the Colors in the hull and body are correct

The ski in your picture is a 1997 SPX and it has the 787 engine.

Correct. But isn’t the 97’ supposed to be the fastest with the one year only waterbox? Pretty sure that’s what I remember.
Think the 98 was the fastest since the hull is a hair lighter than the rest (except the 95 XP800). I am running 97 SPX water box in mine because I heard the baffles wont break like the 96s.
