Hi All,
I have a Seadoo XP (2000), that is a bit unwell at the moment. I have spoken to a Seadoo mechanic but habve not had much joy.
Issue 1:
On my last run, the ski was running really poorly, lack of power, bogging down under accerlation, would jump around in the rev ranges, would occasionally hit full power then cut out. I stop pulled out the spark plugs, the front cyclinder spark plug was white with no oil or burn residue. The rear cyclinder was dark and oily. My understanding from this is that the front cyclinder is running to lean and hot, or may not be sparking properly??
I then put in a new set of spark plugs and performance was good for a while and then the same thing happened, the plugs looking the same as the previous set.
I then ran the ski with the full selector half turn to on and the ski was running a lot better, but still the occasional cut in poer but nothing like before.
(Previous to all of this before taking it out on the water i took apart the rave valves and cleaned them, no difference to performance.)
Would this suggest that the fuel mixture on the carby is wrong? Could it also suggest that the spark plugs leads and or coils are dead?
Issue 2:
The speedo seems to be jumping up and down as if it is shorting out and not representing the true speed. When i had the ski on the trailer and i was flushing the engine the speedo was jumping up and down when only when i would rev the engine on idle it would stay at zero.
I have checked wire connections and there does not appear to be any damaged wires etc.
Could anyone suggest what i should look at or try, to rectify the problem. It appears to be some sort of electrical fault.
Thank you for your time in reading this and provide any constructive feedback.
cheers:
