Alright so I have a 1997 seadoo xp and it just recently started not wanting to start. I put the key on and it will start immediately within a few turns of the engine when i am out of the water. Today i backed my trailer up into the lake pressed the start button and it did not start even though i just started it a few minutes before. So i wiggled the key and got it to start the second time. I decided to go out to see what else it would do so i got on, started it up and i was off. After about 2 minutes of riding from idle to full throttle, it all of a sudden cut out on me. I pressed the button and got it to go for about a minute before it cut out on me again. I continued to get shorter and shorter ride time before cutting out until i almost got back to the dock and it would no longer respond. The vts needle would move up when i pressed the start button but nothing would happen and would stay up even after pulling the key. After about 30 seconds, it would then go back down. So i put it back on the trailer and tried to start it up out of water but it wouldnt respond just like it did in the water. Anyone know what is going on?
I am new to the boating world but i will try to answer any question. I did test the battery and it is fine.
It turns over and runs great until it cuts out and then wont start until later when i try it at home. its a 787/800 engine and there are no beeps. I dont think that the buzzer has ever worked in that posh
Also, when it does start even when i clean out the fuel filter it starts within a couple of clicks rather than before where i would have to pull the choke and work to get the fuel back through for about a minute or so. It seems to be starting too fast you know?
