Normally I don't carry a lot of tools in the ski, we ride on a fairly small lake about 35mi. end to end. I do keep a good assortment of tools in my Jeep.

I carry a cel phone and if I can't get a tow I figure I can always call the dock. One thing I do carry that I haven't heard mentioned is a hose pincher, just in case I need a tow. If you don't have a hose pincher you can use a spark plug in the water intake hose.

Why do you need a hose pincher for a tow?

Towing at speeds over 15mph can build up enough pressure in the pump from the water flowing through it. When it builds pressure it forces water into the cooling just as it would when the engine is running. It also puts water into the exhaust just like when the engine running. The problem when towing is that the engine is not running and therefore no exhaust gas to push the water out of the exhaust system. The water builds up and then fills the motor. Pinching the cooling hose coming from the pump stops all this from happening. Just remember to remove it before running the engine next time. This is also the same reason you need to have the engine running anytime a garden hose is connected and turned on.
