Hi folks-- I joined this forum because I have a 2003 GTI LE and have had it "professionally" rebuilt twice and it has seized up after less than two tanks of gas has run through it both times. Now I am going to tear it down and rebuild it myself. I hope to get some advise from some of your knowledgeable members on why it is seizing up. I hope some members can help me with this.

Thanks
Fred

Hi & welcome to the forum.

who rebuilt it the previous 2 times....SBT, etc offers a 1 & 2 yr no fault warranty.

Did you find the reason it seized up the first time before rebuilding it 2 more times?

where in Lower MI are you?
See the threads below......

No warranty or coverage? Two tanks is not very long.

Have you looked into buy a rebuilt? Two main suppliers are recommend highly here at the site. Comes with 2 years or no fault coverage if you want it.

What did it cost yours have yours rebuilt?

It was rebuilt by a marine shop in Coldwater MI. They are supposed to be seadoo specialists. It cost $1500 ($900 if I pulled the engine) The second time it froze up I was told that the engine had suck in water, like that of a submerged engine. This never happened so I don't know how it could have taken on water. I am going to attempted to rebuild it this winter. Just looking for some tips and downfalls of pulling it myself.

please post up year and ski model with engine size, cause we are technicians, not magicians -- lol

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Another way of taking on water is if you put it on a hose WITHOUT the engine running. Could this have happened?

I am somewhat new as well. You will love these folks. My 1996 GTI is in the shop for the third time. I'm convinced these fellas would have had my Sea Doo fixed by now. This is a great site. Good luck. I feel your pain having had one an excellent trial run. It's been in the shop every since and now a third time 1002.00 later and still not fixed. You will hear from these guys.
