I have an older Seadoo GTX. Been a great watercraft. Guests were riding it yesterday and it was running great. Then it supposedly starting acting up and died. When I got on it, it fired right up but would only go about 5-10 mph. It sounds ok, but just has no power. Seemed to be smokin more than usual...but not 100% sure. I didnt want to mess with it long and mess something up worse...so loaded it on trailer. Any ideas on what this could be? THANKS

make sure it has oil, make sure it "pees" when it's running, check compression, check plugs. plugs can tell you a lot by their appearance. It's also possible an exhaust gasket is leaking from either being blown, or the manifold bolts coming loose. Check it out, let us know.

Thanks for the help. I have not put it back in the water but it seems to be running fine again when hooked up to the water hose. However, I still have a concern. This is a '95 GTX. WHen hooked up to the water hose and engine running, where all should I see water come out?

when hooked up the water, you should pinch the water hose between the garden hose and the jet pump; otherwise, the water will just run out of the jet inlet. It should come out of the pee hole and the exhaust (I'm 95% certain). Do you have a compression gauge? You can usually "rent" one at your local autoparts store.

it's the little hole (you may have two) in the back, by the tow loop. sorry for being crude, i don't know what else to call it. it just shoots out a little jet when you're riding.
