A CanDooPro can program a key to the ECU, even if you have no working key for the ski. I have done this on 4 tec and older 2 stroke project skis that I bought without a key. I programmed a key yesterday to a 1997 SeaDoo XP that came with no key, I took a key from my box of spares and programmed it to the ski. CanDooPro is great, if you only plan to have up to 4 skis that you work on. If your going to be buying and fixing up SeaDoos regularly, then BUDS with a 5 year license might be better for you.

Hi 4 tec
I purchased the Buds kit and a one year licence .
However my problems just continue , I’ve only managed to get the kit talking 3 times so far , then I lose it all together , I’ve ordered a new rectifier as the connector was very corroded to it . Could this cause communication problems ?
Also thinking of getting a new Dess post to ? Could this be a issue with coms to ?
it’s getting beyond a joke now with costs spiralling
Any help would be massively appreciated
Thanks

Rectifier circuit has nothing to do with communication. You don't even have to have a rectifier installed.

Post can prevent the ECU to power up which is necessary for communication.

where did you buy your BUDS from? I have been thinking about buying it for myself. The CanDooPro licenses are pretty expensive and converting to CanDooPro unlimited is WAY overpriced. I like my CanDooPro, but not when it cost so much for a license.

Power tech diagnostics, it was about £750
I think with a 5 year licence it was £1100
I’m wondering what I can do with it after I ve finished with it if ever at this rate !

If your rectifier connections we’re corroded that probably means you have other harness connections corroded as mentioned by the dealer when their buds could not communicate with your ski. You need to either fix your harness or get a new one.

Hi All
Update with good and and bad news !
New Dess post fitted and eventually coded a fob , started first time.
used on a lake and went well ,until oil warning and code p1520
changed sensor , no difference.
Ive since discovered clean oil in the bilge so looks like engine will have to come back out
anyway thanks for all your help and ill post updates as and when
:-)

Why does the engine have to come back out? Sounds like you have an oil leak which most are easily fixed with the engine in. The p1520 code is an oil pressure which will happen if you lose too much oil from your oil leak.

I can’t see any oil leaking from anywhere ,so presume it’s underneath
Was a total rebuild so everything came apart and thinking I must of got something wrong .
The dipstick shows plenty of oil but there are traces of oil higher up which isn’t very helpful , I don’t trust it tbh .
Is there any common places to start looking ?
There’s a lot of oil in the bilge
