Hi,

I'm in the process of buying a 657cc seadoo bombardier gtx from 1996 but i figure that the model is the '93, from a friend. The problem is that a couple of years back the gear connecting the engine to the propeller got damaged, and in the same time i understand that the crankshaft got damaged as well. Is it solvable? Do i have to buy a new engine? In the following days i'll go pay him a visit and probably take a couple of pictures of it. If i understand correctly it is already taken apart. I'll go and see. Is it worth the time/money/effort?

Any sugestions are welcomed.

P.S.
I hope this is the right place on the forum to post this....

If it's a 93 GTX... it may not be worth fixing. (unfortunately) Even if he gives it to you for free.

If the crank is damaged... a replacement 657 engine will cost you around $700 from SBT, And a drive shaft will be $150. Assuming it has that damge... there will be more. A running, early GTX is only worth $1k if it's in very good condition. (I've seen them as low as $500 if they need love, but still run)

You should examine the PTO internally and the pump driveshaft - these items you could replace easily, if you need a crankshaft you will also need the gaskets costing about another 100 and other internal parts which have rusted - I have an older 3 seater like this and it is very reliable and easy to repair.
