I have a 951 that wont start. It wont turn over. When I put the key on I get 2 beeps. My question is..

Is there any safety features that might prevent the ski from starting?

Im getting ready to purchase a mpem but just wanted to be sure its not something simple before I do.

Jump the starter solenoid in the rear electrical compartment. If this causes the starter motor to turn over then the starter is good, if not the starter might be bad. If the starter does work then check the solenoid itself and verify that the start button operates correctly. All these are much cheaper than a new MPEM

If you put The key on and get the two beeps and gauges work it's more then likely not your mpem check the starter and starter button and solenoid as above then let us kno

OK.. Im going crazy here. I replaced the upper harness. I replaced the solonoid. I replaced the mpem and now its even worse. It will crank over fast if I jump the terminals. I cleaned the grounds that hook to the mag cover. Mpem is getting 12.49 volts at the fuses. i tested all wires to electrical box for continuity. mpem has ground continuity to motor.

I go out and put the key on today. Instead of the usual beep beep I get a tick tick from the alarm.. i didnt really care since my new mpem just showed up on the porch.. so i toss in the new mpem snap on the key and get ... tick tick. very faint from the buzzer. nothing else is working but the trim.

what am I missing here?? Its not that complicated of a system.

Well the way I see it is you can keep changing parts until you run out of things to change, or you could stop, take a step back and start reading the repair manual and properly diagnosing the problem.

1. From reading your post...two beeps usually means a good MPEM, so why change it?
2. After installing the new MPEM, did you have your key reprogrammed?
3. Did you test the start/stop button?

From the information given my guess would be the start/stop button. I would reinstall the old MPEM that gets 2 beeps with your lanyard key and check the start/stop button.

Is it getting spark?? Fuel?? U are throwing parts at it you were told it's not the mpem so we need more info to help you

The only reason I started throw parts at it was because it was last resort. I have had this thing since april been through every single connector read the manual 6 times, called the dealer and after all that failed i replaced the solonoid. Didnt fix it.. So then I replaced the harness because it was a little coroded where it plugged into the mpem and that got the trim working again.. And the mpem was just out of fustration because i am out of options. Summer is short in NY. Both mpems have matching keys, both give 2 chirps with correct keys.
Even the diagnostic mode for the mpem wont work. The button was changed with the harness. When it first started acting up I was able to jump the starter and get it running, Then it stopped sparking. So now like i said . two chirps and thats all i get. Im going to test continuity on the start button tommorow and If i was a gambling man i would say its going to be fine.

ok so get this. If anyone can solve this lmk. I have been looking at it so long im crosseyed.

I unhook the start/stop and test the continuity.. none. I try to bypass it and run a wire to start it.. no luck.
I notice while bypassing the switch the gauges came to life. I touch the wires together 5 times it goes into diagnostic mode. i put the key on and touch the wires together one more time and no beeps. I assume the ski thinks it should be starting??

Next I test the starter solonoid plug for 12v when touching the wires together... nothing.
I connect the Start/Stop wires. apply key.. get no beeps.
I disconnect wires apply key.. 2 beeps try to jump starter = no spark
I connect key touch wires together jump starter solonoid and the ski starts up.
I disconnect the start/stop wires and it stays running untill I pull the key off.

What in the world is going on here?

Thanks guys for the help. It runs now. There was a few problems.

The old harness all 3 buttons on the left were bad. The new harness the start button was bad. Also, the connector that connects to the starter was bad, so even if it the started button worked on the new harness it still wouldnt have run. gotta love ebay..
