Hi Jlgeneral and welcome to the forum.

Idle speed should be about 3000-3500 out of water and about 1500-1800 in water.

Are you saying that top RPM is 3500 while running full speed??????

Oh wait I just noticed you are talking about a boat not a ski. I think it should be about the same though.

Can you give more detail about your problem.

Yes : both engines

Fuel, Carb, or electrical I'm thinking. How about fuel lines, and filters? Carb lines? Intake manifold cracked? Carb mounts? Maybe NOT producing vaccuum? I don't know much about the Seadoo Boats, but I do know a little about the engines. In 1998, how much electrical componants are running throttle etc??? If that's the case, maybe it IS electrical.

My intake manifold ripped right off of my 717 once. It was a stress point in the engine and will break under excessive vibrations. And mine broke off with BOTH a carb bracket and once without the bracket. Either way, if it's not airtight, you will loose all power, or some depending on crack in manifold.

This is just my two cents!! (haha) Maybe it will lead to a solution somehow???
