6mm and i believe 7/32 snap-on nut driver worked for me, they have a much thinner profile than craftsman and other brands.

I found a good 7/32 from kobalt that worked good, the kobalt brand was thin enough, i only have the standard set though, i went back to get the metric but the style was different and didnt look thin enough

Long story short, easiest way to take out the gauge is racers way, after unscrewing the bottom panel, taking the wing nut off the mirrors, pulling out the mirrors, unscrewing all the screws holding the hood together, then drilling out the rivits in the mirror area just to get to a gauge seems a bit nuts. Considering now you have to reassemble it when your done. Im making the tool

Bumping this thread for good ingenuity!

I am trying to fashion a VTS nut removal tool tonight and would like to only make one trip to the home deopot.

Can anyone tell me what size PVC they used for the VTS nut? Either with heat or with the screw method mentioned above?

Thanks

curious myself, i'd like to make that tool as well.

Well the VTS nut is 1-5/16 I think, so we need something slightly smaller than that. I did some searching and have found that some have had success with 1-1/4 and 1" electrical conduit.

I will buy the cheaper one and post my results.
