Sea Doo GTX 215 rolled - help !!

During a weekend at my sisters last weekend my brother in law flipped my GTX 215 while riding with my nephews and did get it flipped back over for 5-7 minutes because he thought it was "fine" ( meanwhile it was sinking :( ) .... once righted and it started up and smoked out the back ....I quickly had it shut off and was near the ramp and pulled it out and drained it....it fired up by the ramp and just out of the water and did not smoke.. I checked the oil and did it appeared normal and not murky and will pulled the plugs tonight.... wanted to ask a few things...if I wasn't there and he ran it ...what would have happened ?? its a 2008 with no bilge pump... based on the information above.... what is best and worse case scenarios for my GTX ??

If the oil's looks good. Drive on. If you're worried about it change the oil. The fact that it started and runs aliviated the hydro-lock concern for me.

If he hadn't righted it for a while longer he prolly would a wished he had. It woulda slowly filled with water, tail first. Dunno if a ski will eventually right itself after being half sunk. I do know when the exhaust is full of water the motor won't start. Long slippery slope from there if you're away from the dock.

..........

And just a pet peeve thing here. Your ski was rolled. Flip is end over end. ;)

Sorry ... Yes it rolled... Not flipped... Thanks for response... Changing out oil and plugs this week.... Hopefully everything looks like it should

When a 4-tec is shut down, every valve closes. This is to prevent any water ingestion and or cylinders being open to the air during storage.

So, if the oil doesn't have water in it, you are good to go.

ps, DON'T let brother in law borrow it again, that's pretty disrespectful to leave it upside down, righting it should have been top priority if there were no injuries.

I have rolled mine over before. Everything is fine. Should turn upright as soon as possible.
Manuel states that flip the ski back up and wait a five minutes so the oil returns to the right places.
You got a little smoke is no big deal, but should have waited a few before starting.
Good to go!
