those who have tried it say it works for a while then starts to rattle again. Necessary - no its a wate of time and money, plus the rattle drowns out that annoying whining your GF is doing.
maintenance chart says check pump oil every 25 hrs and change annually

I put an anti-rattle cone on my 96GTI a couple of years ago. It didn't seem to make any difference that I could tell. If the rattle annoys you the best thing is to set the idle just a little bit higher, I set mine to about 1600rpm in the water.

You should change the pump oil at least once a season, I change mine twice a season. Use 75w90 GL5 Synthetic, I use Mobile LS1, one bottle will last a long time.

I think I replied to something like this a while back... Yes, it's a waste of time and money. The only real time you hear the rattle from the pump is while out of the water, during flushing. The rattle is caused by the pump shaft moving axially, back and forth, bouncing off the thrust bearing and washer. There is no thrust created on the pump, causing the movement. When the ski/boat is in the water, the torque, or pressure created by the impeller, pushes the shaft hard against the thrust bearing and washer, eleminating the noise. So, the anti-rattle kit is actually for nothing more than keeping you happy, eleminating the noise while back-flushing. Problem is, it really doesn't work; when they do, it's not for too long.

Yeah..... it's good to see there are still a lot of the perm members still hanging around. I've gone through and read a lot of threads... I don't think I've been missed that much. Seems like you and Griz, bigjake and seadoobuddy have been holding down the fort o.k... My workload on my backside has lightened up a little, had surgery this past year for a torn tendon on my left ankle (damn wakeboard). But, I'm going to try to pop in a bit more often. Keep up the great work. It seems a lot of people here have not only learned something, but passing it on to the newbies... that's what makes the forum work so well......:cheers:
