just got 2 motors out of a speedster 1996 and both pump up to 150 and hold. I popped the exhaust manifold to see the sides of the pistons and noticed some vertical scratches you can feel with you finger nail!! I was wondering if this is a sign of break down or if some scratches are normal??? THANKS:confused:

It's kind of normal depending on how they were broken in... and what kind of oil they were using.

Since yo have good compression... I wouldn't worry.

thanks for your input, I really appreciate it, while you're still on can I ask you what kind of oil you would run in the 720 motors?

I personally run XPS syth blend oil (The black bottle) in a 720. But any good API-TC oil is fine. There are a bunch of guys here running the QuickSilver PWC oil with very good luck.

DO NOT run a TC-w3 oil in a seadoo engine.
