Cool, at $250 you can't go wrong, I love seeing these X4s restored.
That's what I would do for sure. The westside powersports boys will have what you need to get on the water.
How long was this thing sitting in a flood? I'd wonder about water in the electronics and engine. I guess if it was up in a tree it probably dried somewhat.
I wouldn't pay for a hull, period. The meat has been rendered from the bone, now throw the bone to the guy who wants it, he's saving you the leg work of cutting it or hauling it to the dump.
Damn bro! When I go to CHI I stay right near the Elgin commons, I have fam up there... if you want it bad enough and can get it EVENTUALLY, I may be able to have someone grab it for you and hold it til you can arrange a transport...let me know..

So, spx787 if you took EVERY inner piece and used an exterior hull, you use the title to the HULL for registration, right? Just curious, because mine is somewhat of a Frankenstein (my spx) and I got $h1t from a friend bc my "numbers" don't match my hull...
The vin numbers are just on with pop rivets. One under the gas tank and the rear one under the tie down ring. There is also that white one on the back, but it is just printed and faded. If you find a decent hull, consider swapping the plates. Technically I am sure this is not right, but you do own it and morally I don't see the problem.

wow small world, I have about 50 extended family, Elgin, Plainfield, Kankakee, Wilmington, and in the city. But I ONLY go up there in the summer... no way I'm going from December to May.
Yea I go to Elgin, st charles, Bartlett, the Algonquin commons, etc..
not legal and shouldn't even be suggested
i don't think I've ever seen a HIN on an engine, engines are kind of designed to interchange.

OK, I know it was a bad idea. For those few in this thread that don't know, the MPEM may have the original motor SN in it. But that assumes the original MPEM is in it. That is the thing, these skis now have so may parts from so many other skis, the title thing is kind of muddy. Honestly, guys do this sort of stuff all the time with trailers that they don't get titles on. They claim they are homemade and get new titles. But I do get it that the hull is king in the title thing. AND I was not advocating getting a stolen hull and switch the plates. Anyway, I was wrong to say it. End of story.

I would like to see the "in the tree" picture.
I say love the one you're with. That said, I'd never buy something I suspected was stolen npr would I want my fingerprints on it.

One more thing, we get boats dragged in here that don't come with titles and we sell parts off them. Not sure where they came from really, the parts are sold and proceeds donated to charity.
