I found a 2005 RXT with 25 hours on it. Guy says the block and the crank are trash. Not sure how...or why it wouldn't have been covered. He parted out the intercooler, but supposedly everything's still there any ideas on how much it's worth? Next...I'm fairly mechanical but never swapped a engine in a wave runner, how difficult is it and what are some things to look out for?
THANKS FOR YOUR FEED BACK!

Well, a SBT reman engine is $2200.00 assuming you have a rebuildable core, plus labor, plus freight, plus a used intercooler (if you can find one), so I'm guessing the hull is worth $500-800.

Just found out it spun a bearing and threw a rod through the block

That's an incomplete motor (parted out intercooler and such) and a rod through it which makes it junk and can't be used as a core. A new motor will not come with an intercooler so you have to buy that separately. I'd pay maybe $300 more than what the trailer it's sitting in is worth for that hull. Might be more profitable to buy it and just part it out.

Ouch! The engine is the primary cost on those skis. You can find a lot of hulls for sale on boat trader sites and ebay. Do some searching and see if you can find a low hour machine with a wrecked hull would be the only thing cost affective beyond buying a new motor. But they would be hard to find I think. Good used motors get snapped up pretty quick.
