I have a 98 sportster and the starboard engine needs a rebuild. While I’ve shipped my core and am waiting on my new engine to come in (3ish weeks) I’m wondering if I can still get on the water. I have no intention of going fast just want to slowly go up river to anchor and fish/ watch the sunset. I’ve heard it best to block off the water line where the starboard motor would be as it will still pull water through. Anyone have any other tips or things to look out for?

You will not have fun controlling it at low speeds. A lot of correction, nightmare backing up and turning. Maybe not as bad in calm water, but with any kind of wave or current you will have trouble.

As far as the electrical system, someone may want to chime in whether it is a problem if the spark plug wires stay on the grounding posts on that side . What are the risks?
