running a 717 without a waterbox?

ive heard of some guys doing this to create a little more sound from the ski, just curious if there is any other benifits performance wise?? or any problems that could occur with no waterbox on there?

im really trying to pick up an exhaust and a west coast water box. i just dont know my options as far as a waterbox is concerned, if any.

ive also heard the white waterbox from seadoo is an upgrade from the purple ones othere now??

Hey Matty, the whie is better than purple thing is just on the 787's. I have moded 717's and find no advantage, just more sound out of other water boxes. The old West coast is the right mix of tone and reasonability. I had a TDR behind a Factory spec 2 and it was downright offensive! The truth is I have your exact ski stock with a 787(w/R&D pipe) next to it on the double trailer and the 96 SPX sounds way better. It pops with authority at idle. You can but should not run without a waterbox. You would have to have good water pressure on the stinger to not melt the long rubber hose. But don't add to people hating pwc riders. Let your perfect tone come from the sweet rip of a correctly tuned Factory pipe.

Removing the waterbox won't gain you anything other than a bunch of pissed off people. AND... you may get a ranger give you a visit.

A lot of people already don't like Jet-Ski's. There is no reason to get us banned.
