I have the copper seal in there, so I was wondering if putting hi-temp RTV sealant in that area is really needed.

Anyone go without and have success?

787 engine, talking about where the big stainless ring is put around the two halves and cinched together with the long hose-clamp looking device.

Well, if you do, I will.

Not sure why I listen to you...:hat:

Done it in the past and it has worked well. Just wondered if it was needed.

I have the copper ring in my exhaust too. Seems it was leaking quite a bit , so I pulled , cleaned , buffed the halves, and put it all back together , copper ring and copper RTV. So far , so good. It didnt leak at all yesterday with a solid 40 min at full throttle run.

We have some stuff at work called " gra-foil" that i might have to look in to. The gasket " bone pile" has bits and pieces that I could make some rings of that size from , and its REALLY high temp gasket material. Because its flexible and has a nice crush value , it might eliminate the need for hi-temp RTV.
