Replacing Siphon Tubes in 1995 GTX

My wife's 95 GTX took on water recently. We noticed the weight putting it on the trailer, and and water ran for a good 5 minutes out of the drain plug. I noticed the shaft bearing was tight (nearly siezed) and greased it and worked it until it was smooth. We put the machine in the water, and removed the seat to see if the seal was leaking. It was not, but water was trickling in through the bailers. At first I thought that the small air vents in the bailer line fittings were plugged and the water was siphoning back into the hull when the machine was stopped. I cleared the the small vent holes with a small piece of wire, and they seem OK. Next, I looked into the jet to see what was the condition of the siphon tubes. To my surprise, they were not there at all. I bought a couple of tubes at the dealer, and pushed them in. (the "O" rings seemed OK).

I'm now thinking that I should have put some silicon or? on the tubes to keep them from coming out again. If anyone has experience with this, I would appreciate hearing from them.

Hi and welcome to the SeaDoo forum.

If you trace the tubing from the bailer tubes to the rear of the ski the tubing should be zip tied high on the ski. If they are not water will siphon in, just tie them up high and the water should stop coming in through the bailers.

Siphon Tubes

Lou:

Thanks for the reply. I cut the zip tie to get to the small vent holes in the fittings. I tied them back up again afterwards. It looks like the tiny air holes in the fittings are there to break any back siphoning into the hull through the bailers. I'm just wondering if putting a drop or two of silicon or other minor adhesive on the sides of the base of the siphon tubes would help keep them in place.

Siphon Tubes too Short

There appears to be a scew up in the Bombardier parts system. There are no part numbers obvious for the suction tubes required for the 95 GTX. The new tubes (Pt. No.271001133) are too short, and with them installed, the bailers pump water into the hull instead of removing it. The proper tubes are about 4" long, and the ones (above) they sell you are about 2" long.

I'm not sure I understand the tubes you are talking about. Are you replacing the white plastic tubes in the pump? The siphon tubes inside the hull are just 6mm (1/4") vinyl tubing available at Lowe's or a hardware store. A picture would help.

There should be a metal strap that holds the bailers to the bottom of the hull, they shouldn't need adhesive.

Yes, the bailer suction box's are held to the floor, the two lines have a 90* fitting where they are zip-tied under rear seat compartment, then go back down to attach to the two smaller of three (3rd is water pressure inlet line) nipples from the jet-pump. The venturi houseing has veins that lead out of ventiri rear where two bailer tubes are inserted, and protrude into the outgoing jet wash, that provides a constant bilge suctioning thru this system of tubes and its bailer box. If the zip-tied lines fall or the tubes break or fall out the system fails and water can ENTER into the bilge, your ski could sink!

Silicone or even a little super glue is what I use to secure the bailing tubes in.
