Hey everyone,

So was out today with a group of mates and just at the end of the day one of them balls it up big time and rode the ski out of the lake up a bank and onto the grass verge. Luckily the hull and all seem to be ok, but the ride plate didn't appreciate this activity and has a huge split down one side.

So I'm looking at replacing the lower piece of the ride plate and found the parts on this site, http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche.com/seadooforums/Seadoo_oem/Seadoo_PWC.asp?Type=13&A=97&B=11

From what I can tell I will require part 2.B (ride plate) and 5 (oil seal) unluckily according to that site I cant have an oil seal.

Just would like one of the guys in the know to have a quick look and confirm what I need to replace only that lower half of the ride plate.

Cheers for your time and thanks for your help in advance.

Have you checked all the components, | have had in the past the plastic cooling fitting break off as the internal nut is very flimsy, I normally make aluminium ones and weld them to the cover plate, is your cover plate okay, make sure it is not twisted but this will depend on how bad the damage is on the riding plate.
Your oil seal might be okay and could be re used, that again will depend on the damage.
The hardest part of the job is removing the cooling hoses on the inside if the ski.

Hi Mo,

Thanks for that, no haven't checked everything yet, I'm about to start the strip down in the next hour so will know more once its in pieces. I just know the ride plate is cracked. The upper cover plate doesnt appear twisted while in the ski so am hoping for the best there and the connectors are not leaking coolant so hopefully will come apart ok and be reused. I thought the oil seal was a reuse from the way you just cant buy it, only issue is if it is damaged.

Thanks for the reply Ill keep everyone posted.

Last year i was getting out of my speedster tied to dock with engines running... Getting out i slipped dumped it in forward and wot. Ripped the side of my dock all to hell. Luckily no damage to boat. Doesnt look to bad youll be back on wAter in no time.

Bmann- I don't remember you telling that story before. You should post it in the "dumbest thing" thread. You were lucky that the dock took all of the damage

Being honest sdb i was a little embarassed to post. But now ive seen im not the only one that deserves a darwin award i figured id share it lolz.

Hi again,
I cannot help but warn you again, be very gentle when removing the hoses from the plastic hose fitting, I checked up yesterday, I have been making aluminum nozzles as they cant be bought separately, you have to buy the complete ride plate assembly, might be in your favour, you will see when you get it off how fragile the retaining nuts are.
You will have to flush the cooling system out when the plate is off just to remove any debris that has entered.
The worst thing about the job is cutting your way through the sealant that holds it on.

Hi again,

Probably wont worry about flushing it out will be getting a whole new plate. I got those hoses off without too much hassle I see what you mean about them, will replace the spring clips with stainless hose clamps.

Its now become an insurance job as the impellor has taken a beating from all the stones that went through it at the end, had some big ones come out just taking the intake grate off. Also the hull is quite well scratched and I hadn't got the impellor off but a stone stuck between the stator and impellor may have damaged the stator but unsure so far.

All up it is going to be a costly fix as its more than just the ride plate like I was hoping. Ill let you know when it comes together again. Hoping soon as its still warm here.
