anyone ever replace a oil level sensor grommet? cant figure out how to get the grommet over the sending unit and don't want to break it. also the white cap in the sending unit pops off, is that normal or should it be glued on?

It's a tight fit but the grommet will go over the float part of the sensor, try using a little oil so it will slide on/off easier. And no the float part of the sending unit shouldn't come off.

For other applications I have taken a sheet of plastic and made it like a funnel rolled around the item. Then slide the grommet it O-ring up the tapered cone with some oil on it.

Got it! thanks guys. now the next question, i made a mistake on the oil hose that attaches to the upper where the oil sender is, i knew that it requires a stainless hose clamp to the block but i zip tied it to the port on the oil tank sender. i think it will be ok and fits very snug, does it matter or should i take the zip tie off and hose clamp it? all the other ones as per manual is zipped tied to the tank ports and hose clamped to the engine side. i already have it installed in the ski and strapped. your thoughts?

A cable tie is fine, it's just the return line, no pressure. Actually I've used cable ties to replace a lot of hose clamps.

thanks Lou, i replaced the oil ck valve and just happen to test the old one and it is bad, (can blow through both sides) which i think explains one of the reasons for the oil leak it had. out of curiosity, what other effects can a bad ck valve have?

I always thought it was strange that seadoo uses a clamp on the oil pump inlet hose & zip ties on the inline filter. Seems to work ok, but sure seems to have the potential to make a mess.

I don't really know, with it stuck open I would say it wouldn't cause any problems, I guess stuck closed it could in an extreme case restrict oil flow to the pump.

I had a similar problem a couple yrs ago when I replaced the bottom grommet. i thought since space was tight I would put the red "F" fitting in first then install the grommet.....after a struggle I just put the grommet in then the "F" fitting...ez pz.

Is the white part on the oil sending unit supposed to move up and down or on this uit t stays at the bottom??

Yes, the white part is the float, when the oil tank is about 1/3 full it should drop down and close the switch and the oil level light will come on.

LouDoo on my unit the white part or float is stuck at the bottom, looking at it and pushing it up looks like it does not move at all. Looking at it again the pipe were the float is attached to looks like it has 2 diferent sizes and thats why the float is stuck at the bottom.

I'm not that familiar with Seadoo boats, try posting your question in the 2-stroke boat section, the guys over there should be able to help.
