Quick question, can you replace a 8 tooth starter pinion with a 9 tooth pinion on a 96 787? Will it engage and dis engage properly? My starter motor has an o ring seal; the parts book Ive got shows no o ring, but rather a gasket to seal out water. Is there more than one type of starter motor for the 787 motor, or more than one type of flywheel?

Yes you can put the 8 tooth one on. It's an upgrade that will give more torque.
