Has anyone had any luck restoring a good look to there rub rail???
I would like to improve in two ways;

1st- The knicks or small grooves cut into it... can I sand it down a bit???
will it discolor in those spots???

2nd- what is a good cleaner to bring back a brighter/shinier look...or at least clean the marks off of it???

Thanks

I just wipe it down good and use a magic eraser like the rest of the boat. Then I wipe on a product called back to black. works good on black colored plastic and rubber.

mothers back to black is some pretty good shat, has to be reapplied a few times at first then maybe every other time you hit the water, i used the back to black...lol.....initally, then i use the meguiars "hot shot COAT" not the shine and the rails on my ski look brand new....as far as sanding them i wouldnt...i would trim the gouged plastic edges off wash and shine shine shine, you'll never notice the imperfections after that...good luck

ok

my rail is green so ill skip the black on black stuff. Do they make a similar product for green??? if not ill just give it a good cleaning...

I used a simple " Tire Shine" spray can on mine. The silicone made it nice and shiny for a few days of boating. Sprayed it on a rag and wiped it on. Im SURE there will alot of opinions on this one. As for the nicks and scratches in my purple rail , I cleaned them out , and ignore them. Its a boat ,and the rail is pretty much a sacrificial part. Better than busting up the gel coat at the dock.
