Removing LRV rear Seats

Ok I just bought one of these huge monsters. :facepalm:
I need to pull these dam things off like this afternoon when I get home.
I looked last night (flashlight and flip flops) but didn't see any bolts attaching them.

Do they just pop out like the boat seats doo with clips ?

Was hoping some other fool had one of these and can give me some tips :)

Looks like they have a seat latch on the top, the bottom looks to have hinges bolted on.

ya, I found the latch, and the hinges, but the seat's themselves must come off.
It can't possibly one piece of vinyl/fiberglass, that makes no sense.
 
Spim, just fixed a wear ring on one for a guy. Actually not a bad ride for a cold test ride :)
240 hrs.

Update...
After 2 minutes of scratching my head (fiche was worthless) and staring at it, I decided just to pull the 4 bolts where the hinges were and bring the entire rear storage sections into the garage. Bulky but they only weight maybe 10 lbs.

Its clear to me now that this is Much easier under florescent lighting with it laying on the floor, than in the back yard with a flashlight at night at a sharp angle... :)

Turns out there were 3 rivets tucked inside that I couldn't see from the angles I could get while standing next to this beast.

laid it upside down, popped the rivets and the rest came out with standard clips.

I guess its possible to remove the seat backing & cover w/o removing the base, but since it takes 30 seconds there is no reason not to. So If you ever have to re-cover a LRV rear seat, just pop the base hinges, flip it over, pop 3 rivets, and then remove it with the clips.

Not so bad after all.

Wife saw it in the back yard this morning, sent me a txt... "I thought you bought a boat" I replied with "well, its as big as one"

Curious.. since I have never ridden on one of these... can I get an assessment... ?
Seems quite "back heavy" does the bow stay up and keep you dry ?
(sure as hell seems like it would)
How was hole shot, mid range acceleration ?
(i'm guessing its sluggish similar to a GTI out of the hole, but decent in the midrange since its on plane)
Turn Radius ?
(not expecting much, but curious)
 
Well I had a limited chance to really test it, about 15 mins, but I was pleasantly surprised.
As far as back heavy, I actually didn't notice it, when letting off throttle, I actually had some water come over the front and into the footwell area getting my shoes slightly wet.

First time on a ski with a 951, hole shot was decent, obviously doesn't rip, but like you said, when on plane, mid range and beyond pulled very well. Raves kick in strong and it really scoots for its size.

You can really feel the size and weight especially moving it around and pulling onto the trailer. After the LRV, it made me think I could lift my xp all by myself.

Turn radius actually wasn't too bad for its size, honestly I would rather have one of these compared to a 2001 yamaha xlt1100 which my cousin had that I rode.
I would imagine with 4 people and all the storage filled with stuff this review would be completely different.

Overall a very unique ski, pretty neat if you can get over the looks and size.

Thanks for the reply, i'm on the cliff as far as restoring this or just stripping out the parts.
Oddly enough, there is not that much room in the engine bay, its all storage, you can literally fit waterski's in there....
 
Yeah I noticed that also, and with the wide sides, it makes it a pain to lean over and work on the engine. I'm 6'3" and was on my tiptoes to reach over into the engine bay.

Yeah the storage is crazy, I could pack enough supplies to camp for a week on that thing

I would think that a water ready LRV would bring decent scratch around where you are with the PWC fishermen down in FL, no? every time those and the yami SUV pop up on CL around here, they want 3500+ for skis that need a full overhaul just about.

EDIT: case in point, LRV DI with 26hrs - $5000 http://houston.craigslist.org/boa/4712142483.html

i believe it, kinda like the explorers, didn't sell very well when they were new, but good luck finding one at a decent price nowadays.
