Rebuilt 240. How do I initiate break in sequence?

Disregard. Thats for the newer style with the electric pump.

So I just rebuilt the 240 and I am trying to figure out how to tell the computer to go in to the break in cycle. I had read somewhere that it will add extra oil during the first so many hours. Is this even necessary? Thanks

You need a Merc DDT or the Rinda tool to reset the ECU. A local Merc dealer should be able to do it for you, for only a few $$$. (15 min labor)


If it's a 240... and not one of the Opti engines... you can simply add 50:1 oil to the main tank, for your fist 2 tanks of fuel.
