I have a rattling noise coming from the jet pump of my 1999 GSX.Anybody know if it needs a rebuild or a wear ring.Any help would be great Thanks!

Saw a video on youtube about that same problem with 89-97 seadoo models , the cone that you see when you look into the jetnozzle, where you change & add oil for the pump. That cone has a piece of slick plastic and a spring to keep pressure on the bearings and shaft, cheap repair, much quieter, and you can change your pump oil while the cone is off. Bewarned the old oil smells reaaaaaly BAD ! wear gloves its hard to get the smell off of your hands. Hopes this helps?

Thanks! I looked at the vid ,good info. But,my ski is a 99,so that leads me to think that the bearings are possibly bad and need to be changed.

That won't help his problem. That fix is for a low pitch knock that you hear when your idle speed is too low.

Craig E,
If that rattle you hear is while it's out of the water, it's normal. There is a slight looseness in the impeller to drive shaft splines.

Thanks Chester!I have two of the same ski's,one makers the rattle when running out of the water and the other doesn't.Want to make sure nothing is going wrong with the jet pump on the one.

Whens the last time the Jetpump oil was checked? Good listening to your ski is
part of the mechanical maintenance protocol. Wear gloves, its stinky.

No, it's not useless. It works for what it's designed for. It is made to eliminate the low frequency knock you hear when you're idling in the water and the idle speed is set too low. So if you just turn up your idle speed to where it should be while in the water, you shouldn't need that cone and pusher.
