Hey all. I researched this but didn't exactly find what I was looking for. My boat is a 1998 sea-doo sporster 1800...the previous owner claims it does about 55 with the stock impellars...well currently he has star-trek (sp?) impellars on there with a 16/21 pitch that top out at 42 mph...he said he put those on for quicker acceleration...i guess my questions are..what is the pitch of the stock impellars? Will they really hit 55 mph? Thanks.

I have a brand new 2010 150 speedster 155hp that never hit 55mph, so my vote is "no".

Yes... a Sportster 1800 should be able to get right to the 50 mph mark. But the Skat-Trak impellers shouldn't be dropping your speed that much. So....

1) How are you measuring your speed?

2) How much weight is in the boat?

3) Do you feel any cavitation?

4) What is your max RPM's?

5) Do you have a Bimini top on?

Now... I don't think that boat will go 55 mph. The Challenger 1800 will, but it has an extra 50hp over your boat. (in the same hull)

Answer the questions, and we will go from there.

1. The speedo says 45 mph but I clocked 41 mph with my gps (that's what I'm going with)

2. I weigh 245, 4 life jackets, 1 anchor, 1 fire ext, 1 paddle...

3. I'm not sure how to feel for cavitation (my first jet boat)

4. Both engines max rpm is around 6700 to 6800...they seem to run strong

5. Took bimini top off..

I also just go confirmation that the previous owner changed the wear rings in the spring...

Same boat here....

I have a 98 Sportster 1800. Just had new Solas Impellers put on and new wear rings, also re-did carbon seal to get rid of some cavitation. On the first trip out with the new parts, we hit 45 (measured by GPS), with 2 in the boat, the top down, and relatively calm conditions.

One of my stock impellers had some damage/attempted repair work done on the trailing edge. I've only had the boat for 4 months, but we never got up over 38 before the change....

I've got the same boat with Solas concord 13/21 impellars and max out at around 43-45. No way it will do 55 (in my opinion), but I have never run the stock impellars.

I would really like to be in the 45 to 50 range...and from a previous post it looks like someone has hit 53/54....but I'm not trying to get greedy haha
