Hows it going everyone! I'm new to the Jet Ski World and just bought a 05 RXP Supercharged. It has 132 hrs on it, and am confused on what all maintenance I should do to it before next summer. I live in Louisiana so our winters aren't
"freezing cold" like other states. What would ya'll recommend for some basic maintenance to make sure all is good. I've rode it 4 times already and runs like a champ.

The only thing that is wrong with it, is the Speedometer doesn't show speed. The needle moves when you turn it out. So I was told by the seller to buy the new speed sensor which I haven't installed yet. Also the "MAINT" warning comes on when I start it up, guessing thats just a warning to have it maintenance?

If it doesn't freeze, but it's going to get parked for a few months during the winter... I would make sure you have fuel stabilizer in it, and run it thought for a while. Also, make sure all the water is out of the hull.

As far as maintanance... you will want to do an oil change, and check the pump bearings to make sure there isn't any water getting past the seals. Also, put in a fresh set of spark plugs, and make sure the coolant is topped off.

As far as the light on the dash... you may have to take it to a dealer, and have them read out the computer to see what's causing the MAINT warning.

Congrats on you new skis.. I have two 05' RXPs also. With 132 hours on it have the SC washers been changed yet?

Thanks for the information guys! From what I was reading the Ski automatically says MAINT on the dash after you've hit a certain amount of Hrs. I did a engine code check to see if any errors none poped up.

No I haven't checked the Pump bearings. How would I do this?

As far as the washers go, no I haven't I read about that as well and I guess I need to asap, but I'm not sure whats all involved in doing that. Is there any kind of How-To for it? I'm pretty good with stuff like this. I've removed engines and other stuff on cars a good bit.

I also just replaced the Speed Sensor which was pretty easy process since my Speed wasn't being read. Turns out that the old sensors was missing the spinning wheel.

Also what kind of Oil Should I put in this thing? I've read Synthetic then some ppl say non-synthetic

what kind of oil can I put in this since I don't have a local Sea doo Dealership?

Recommended by Seadoo is "XP-S 10W-40 4-stroke oil or an equivalent approved by BRP" for your machine (2005 RXP).

You can order XP-S oil online and have it shipped right to your address. Sites like Parker Yamaha and even Amazon sells it. Shop around a bit first, cause prices + shipping can vary, but is usually cheaper than what dealers sell it for off the shelves.

As far as replacements, I hear lots of good things about AMSOIL. This would be what you need: http://www.amsoil.com/catalog.aspx?GroupID=11. This is also one you would order online, I have yet to see it sold retail anywhere. If you go this route, be sure to pay for a preferred customer membership. You can get a 6 month trial for $10 and it will drop the cost you have to pay by by 20-25%. I would buy cases/gallons and stock up for the season.

The only other brand I hear people using is Quicksilver which is sold at Walmart. Not all Walmarts, but usually ones near lakes, coastline, or other popular water sports areas. I have heard mixed reviews on this one, but usually you hear issues with it when someone has mixed it with other oils.

Just make sure you read the labels and be sure you are getting the right stuff.

Here is a photo of the gear I have in each Doo. The oil you want is in the top right.

Well no one around here sells XPS Oil. We don't have Sea-Doo Dealership anywhere near us. I read somewhere that just a Standard SAE 10w-40 non synthetic would be fine. So I grabbed some Pennzoil from walmart. Haven't changed it yet though.
