Shop manuals or "manafacturer's building" manuals....?
Sorry Karl for jumping in here to this thread, .....but I feel I can clarify a bit of this up for the member.
I (along with the other mods) have much of the same resources as you do but, we also have hours and hours of documented research at our figertips to help us make an informed decision how to best guide our members into finding the info or part they need.
In your case, these specific parts you are referring to are the bailer tube venturi's.....they use the thrust of the nozzle to create a vacuum to remove water from your bilge. They come with part #17 and right at the moment, I do not know if they are able to be purchased alone. But, I could quickly find out. If not, rather than buy the entire unit, I'd probably suggest a "McGyver" fix.
What I see from your post is..............a person who is faced with a problem, looks for ways to point a finger at the reason why they can't easily find a solution.
These shop manuals that we all have, are the same shop manuals that are available to anyone who wants to purchases them from the internet, a book store or any other source who provides this kind of work.
In perspective, you know when an engine (let's use the 787cc for instance) is being pulled from your hull, ....the manual will go through all the steps necessary for you to change that motor out. It will give you certain guidelines for you to go by, using precision measuring equipment in alingment so your new installation is a success..........
Now, .... what you won't find in that manual is the procedure for pressing out and replacing the sleeves in the cylinders. Or, the exact procedure for boring over .010" and telling you which honing tools to use. It will not tell you where to buy your new pistons.
The shop manuals are guides to help someone better understand the theory and principle behind our Rotax motors. That's basically it. Would you like me to answer the question why?.......because they don't expect a novice user to actually try to go above and beyond what it takes to actually build a "brand new motor" from scratch in your garage.
Because of the work I do, I have service manuals, along with my Chiltons, that have over 500 pages in them. All of them I have for specific purposes. Including shaving the heads, repairing cracked casings. Splitting the cranks and many other technical procedures that are not for the beginner or novice.
Our forum is designed to take the BRP factory shop repair manuals and using them to help the owner who may not have ever rebuilt an engine or done much more than change the oil in their cars and teaching them how to replace the bearings in their jet pump, repair their RAVE valves or test their magneto charging circuit...........that's it.
I think we have up to 99.9% of our forum members are who are exstactic that we offer this service. When a member here, who comes in without knowing the size of their motor and walks away learning how to test the charging circuit or remove their motor; know the size and horsepower..........they are so happy, they might apply for a one month membership, just to show their appreciation. But, in every crowd, there is going to be that .01% person who is not happy. Is that you by chance?
