pump throttle to get it starting

Just had carbs rebuilt. Bikes run great and start fairly good when first in water. If I fall off (engine shuts off at half to full throttle) I have to pump the throttle while holding the start button. Sometimes it takes 2-3 times of doing this for it to stay running. Onces it running, it will idle perfect, very responsive on the throttle, and runs like a champ.
Both jetskis do this, they get harder to start as the ride time lengthens but run very good. Any ideas why I have to give it throttle to turn over? would it be low speed adjustments?

Ya got a Bike Book?

Check the accelerator pump.

Who ever rebuilt the carbs probably used aftermarket parts. There is a known issue with some of the aftermarket diaphragms, and they allow the carbs to leak fuel internally, after the engine is shut off. A set of OEM or Mikuni Diaphragms will probably cure your problem.

It seems like the problem is only in the water. If I load of the skis on the trailer, pull them out of the water and try to start it, it will fire up with ease.
