Hello! First of all. Sorry for my bad english, i hope you will be able to undersand anyway.

I just bought my boat and both the engines started well, but the rev meters dident work. So i started to take a look at the fuses and one of them was blown. 5A for the mpem, I dident got any 5A fuses at home so i replaced it with a 7.5A and directly there was smoke comming from the mpem betwin mpem fuse and charging fuse (starboard), and that with the engition off! I tok the fuse out as fast as posible and then tried to start the engine and it wont start anymore =(

I will take the mpem out in this wekend and peel off all the epoxy and se if i can fix it, there are just a few cuestions i need answer from firts.

Should it be power there when ignition is off?

What component could be damage?

Could it be a problem outside the mpem who coused the short?

How could the engine start with a blown fuse?

20120328_233138[2].jpgOk, i went out and take lose the mpem and startet to digging down the black mass. And i found a big diode =) Is that one of the dioedes that use to be the problem? Do you think it would be enough to replace it and all will work fine?

Do anyone know how the engine on that side could start?

Hi and welcome to the SeaDoo forum.

Your English is fine, as luck would have it I was talking to a guy from Sweden today. I work for a car dealership and one of our lines is Volvo, I'm the IT Director and talked to a guy from Volvo Tech. Support today.

Anyway its probably the diode that you already found, it's usually caused by jump starting a SeaDoo, a definite no no. Here's a link to a thread about the subject.

I honestly don't know the thread calls for a MR2535 diode. I was just pointing you in the right direction. If this happened to me I would probably just buy a good used MPEM, you might try PM'ing minnetonka4me, he deals mostly in PWC parts but I have a feeling it will cross to a PWC MPEM.
