Well my throttle cable broke at the bottom of the throttle control handle. I called around and looked on line everywhere. Called 2 local dealers and even checked dealers on line ...My boat application 1997 Challenger 787. Price for new cable...$185.00 plus tax! I went to my local True Value Hardware store, purchased a 2' length of cable 1/8" I think, paid .65. Heated up the ends with a oxygen acetylene torch. Used caution as the one end has an extention tube with white metal that melts at a low flash temp. The other end was brass.I used Silver to braze the ends being carefull not to over heat and use wet rags to quench it to keep temperature down. Reassembled the cable and volia. Cost to repair...less than $2.00. I think the cold beverage during the repair cost more than doing the repair.

We adapt and we overcame!

This is proof positive that with a little perserverance and determination, a problem can be remedied for a lot lower cost than if you get it done from the dealer...........
In the old days, we used to call this "jury rigging"........Karl, let me know how long your cable holds out!.......Now we call it trying to use a little extra money that Uncle Sam missed when he robbed your paycheck!..
