97 GTX problem coming out of the hole

Hi, I have a 97 GTX and having problems coming out of the hole.( bad cavitation sound like) At 1/2 to 3/4 throttle ski will plane out but if you mash the gas down all the way the rpms jump up to around 7000 and you hardly move. Once plained out the ski does fine. It has a new wear ring, and impeller looks ok.Thought it could be the carbon seal so I replaced it. Still having the same trouble. The carbon seal goes back on how it came off ? The boot does not have to be at any sertain distance does it ? Can it be sucking air in from the ride plate and if so how would I reseal it ? I think this is my last option what do you all think ? THANKS

Did the pump get sealed back on with a gob of RTV sealant or the neoprene gasket? If RTV, that could be the problem, or the ride plate. One of the regulars will know more about the carbon seal, I have never changed it.

I had already put the neoprene seal on it to try to fix the problem but it didnt help. thanks

carbon ring and seal!! i had the same problem, pretty easy project took me about an hour. check your wear ring when doing this, if thats never been changed also it might need to be and could cause cavitation.

I had an old prop off my other ski that seemed to work fine on it, but replaced because of dings. I tried it on my other ski and was still doing the same thing. Full throttle on take off and all you get is high rpms (7000)and no take off. It catches and will plain out at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle. I took it to a shop and they told me it was the wrong impeller that why I swapped it. I have a nujet 6.1 they said I needed nujet 6.0. I called the manufacture an they said ethier impeller would work for the skis.

If I try to reseal the ride plat how hard is this task and what kind of sealant do I need to use ???

I was working on it today and noticed the drive shaft had a wabble. I dont know why I didn't catch this earlier. I removed the shaft, and rolled it on a table and it is noticeably bent. This is probably the cause of my problems. What year modle drive shaft will fit my 97 gtx will a 96 also fit ????? THANKS for all of your help
