Ooops, wrong category on my original post.

I am now, on the advices of other members, looking to dealers in the 250 mile radius to see what they have in stock.

I got one dealer with an 08 Challenger SE and an 08 Utopia 205 with a 430. They would only give me MSRP prices but promise to give a good deal when I come in.

I got another dealer with an 08 Utopia 205 with a 310 for $25,999.

Can they do better? Given the economy, I am expecting better deals...or am I out of line?

You know the way they work , Once theyget you in there tey will give you a seemingly good deal then pressure you to get it then , they will ask you what other deal you have been offered then , offer to match it . Go in near the end of the month , get the best deal you can then walk away with it all written down. then go to the next dealer and do the same thing . It might take until the 2nd or 3rd trip around to get the best deal , get it all in black and white . The end of this month is the end of the 1st quarter so they need their sales numbers high .
The line they will use is what will I have to do to sell you this right now . ( This means before you can check with anybody else)
Also , Look on E-Bay , some shops are closing and getting rid of stock , Figure about $1200 for shipping anyplace in the US od twice that for shipping in an inclosed trailer .

I bought my 08 challenger 180 se ,the se came with the $2000 wake board tower and I paid $19,500 for mine

Is there such a thing as invoice prices as found on Edmunds and other sites for boats? I'd like to get a good deal but don't want to offend the dealer. What kind of markups are there? It sounds like Craigmir got an amazing deal. Just wondering....

Thanks for the lookout. That one is on my radar as well. So, is that a factory option or done aftermarket? Will the paint be an issue being on and off the trailer? Among a few other ones as well.

I took the family to look at boats today. It was odd being out in the parking lot looking at boats this time of year. Local dealer has an 08 Utopia SE but he wants $28500 for it. It was next to an 06 Challenger SE that was being stored there. He took the cover and we compared the two. There was quite a different in the bow. It would suit us right now. Kids are 8 and 6 but will be fighting for room with their friends in a few years. The Challenger was really not that much smaller in the exterior dimension but sure had less room inside. Kids voted for the bigger boat.

Wife and I are leaning toward the Utopia but still going to be driven by the deal that we can get on either one.

There is a guy a few hundred miles away that has an 07 Utopia SE with about 10 hours and a transferable 3 year warranty. He wants $19,000 for it.

My plan is to get a list of all the dealers in Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and especially Michigan. Given the economy there, I might be able to score a deal. Anyhow, I am going to call every dealer and see what they have. Does anyone have an opinion whether it would be better to buy by the end of the month and get the promotion from BRP or wait???

We figure it will be another month or so before we can actually get into the water. There are still ice fishermen on Lake Geneva. But I measure the local lake launch ramp and it is less than a mile from our house. Kind of excited not to have any length of time to get to the lake from the house.

Jim,

Keep an eye on this:

Only thing I'm not crazy about is the bottom paint. Your in Wisconsin and will assume your gonna keep boat on trailer so I'd rather not have the bottom paint but if you intend on keeping the boat even in fresh water for any length of time its a good idea.

Craig

I can barely make out the price tag on it. It looks like $24,999. Do the Utopia come with painted trailers or the galvanized ones? What's the difference? Also, it saids used and looked it has been registered. But the hour on the listing said 0 hours.

Definetly used

Jim,

The bottom paint is aftermarket. There are two types of bottom paint. One kind is designed to stay in water full time. The second kind is ok to be out of water. Not sure what they used but considering you will boat around fresh water and you will keep boat on trailer I would recommend against the bottom paint. It doesn't help the boat go any faster and also hampers efficiency a little plus its something you have to re-apply every 18 months or so :ack:

I saw the 0 hours deal too and suspect its a mistake in the ad. As for the trailer, Seadoo offered both a galvanized trailer or a steel painted trailer. I think the galvanized trailer cost a few hundred more. Considering where you live I wouldn't say no to a painted trailer but if you ever think you'll take the boat into salt water or one day sell the boat to someone who will take it into salt water you'll want the galvanized trailer. The painted steel trailer will disintegrate within a year when used in salt water.

I have a 2006 utopia se with less than 50 hours on it. The boat is mint. I posted it on the sell trade. You may want to check this one out.

For what it's worth. I contracted on a new 2008 Challenger SE 180 with tower and galvanized trailer, in January, for $19,000 turn-key, drive it off the lot price - in other words, after tax, title, and license. I paid an additional $300 for delivery, since they were 200+ miles from my lake. The dealer was Smith Powersports located in Hayesville, NC. Talk with Fred Plonsky in sales, or the owner, Charles Smith. They are looking to divest themselves of their 2008 inventory and you will get a good price on whatever they have in inventory, as I did.
