Hi guys i was having problems with my 2008 rxtx not starting and then stoped on me in the bay and had to get towed back. So i would plug the dess in and press the button and it wouldnt start i would rock the jetski around and hit it in a few spots then it would work, this was while i was at the bay's boat ramp, anyway took ot out once i got it started and it would die randomly but start up after a few hit and trys. But then it did it and wouldnt start so had to get towed back. I tried plugging the dess in and powering the started lead and it would start for a few seconds then die. Got it home and same thing would happend. Then i noticed with the dess no connected it would turn the dash on and off every 10 seconds or so with no beeps tho obviously coz the dess wasnt on. Had no idea what it could be, tryed all the usual and nothing so i decided something was obviously shorting it out so started unplugging everything the could be unpluged on the engine and also unpluged the dess post and start and trim button. Got everything unplugged and it was still doing it. So i unbolt and undo the clips on the fuse boxes and shake them and little to find all water starts coming out of the rubber cases around the wires. And sure enough it stops turning off and on.

So to think about it now seadoo and there stupid not water tight black casing they put around the random groups of wiring are holding water where they loop down and up and shorting them confusing the computer and switches, so so advise for people if they have similar trouble. I thort it was the classic starter solinoid but its perfectly fine after finding the wiring problem.

I am now going to remove all the black casings under/behund the fuse box and have just little cable ties to hold the goups of wires together so no water gets trapped and shorts wires, stuffs signals up.

Also going to do the same on the other possible cables the water could sit and not drain out of.

Cheers hope this helps with anyones troubles

Not only could the water be causing havoc but *MAYBE* some connections are loose. Check them all and use di-electric grease on them.

I had a loose connection in my 96 GTX front MPEM box, it drove me crazy for almost 2 yrs......sometimes it ran and then it just stopped dead in the water.

You are describing what usually is a bad DESS post or key in the older models, not sure on one this new if its the same. I would def check for loose or corroded connections.

Welcome to the best Seadoo site on the planet, let me know if I can help further.

Ok thanks for the help guys but sadly i spoke to soon hahaa as it is still doing the start problem, it doenst do the random dash power ups anymore tho so hopefully that problem is gone. But yeah took it away for 6 days on the fresh water river when i first got there it was doing the start problem so i wouldt have to jump the 2 solinoid starter motor wires a few times till it started and it would be good, even if i turned it off and then tryed starting it again it would work if i did it in the first 10 mins or so but then sometimes it wouldnt at all, using the normal start button that is. It has slowly got better now and i didn't have to jump it the last 2 days of my trip, so maybe the fresh water has cleaned something and thats why its sweet now. I dunno but yeah if anyone has any ideas of how i can try to test what it could be i would be very appreciated of your help as i want it to be reliable when i take it in the ocean or anywhere. Cheers
