Is the engine cranking over, or is it just the starter spinning? If it's just the starter, you will need a new bendix.

If the engine is cranking... are the spark plugs good? Do you have spark? Have you checked the compression?

If you have compression, and some spark... and the engine is turing over... give it a shot of starter fluid, and see if it comes to life. BUT... don't use too much. There isn't any oil in starter fluid, and it can hurt the engine. But to wake up an old engine... it's OK to use.

yeah all i hear is the starter its a whine noise and yeah there is no engine noise.. and how much is a bendix is it even worth fixing it..

ok well u have help alot and i do appreciate it but ah do u know where i would hook up the water hose up too it and how much do u think this part is and where is it located on the sea doo its a bombardier engine once again thank you for your help.. oh one more thing when i buy the bendix is it one peace like just the starter or is it the starter and another peace that goes to it?

Don't worry about the water just yet until you get the engine running!!

Absolutely DO NOT connect the ski to and run water without the engine running. If you do so, you will fill the engine with water and could potentially damage your engine requiring a rebuild/replacement (if you do not immediately clear the water out). The engine needs the exhaust pressure to expel the water.

Go to the parts wanted section and make a post that you are looking for a starter. There is a member here that has all the parts you need, that are used and much cheaper.

Yep... and a 9 tooth seadoo bendex can be had at STB or from eBay. You may find that you can bring yours back to life, just by taking it apart, and regreasing it.

On a 92... the water inlet will be on a hose, on the carb side for the engine, heading toward the transom. If you have the fitting, it will be a white plastic, quick disconnect fitting, and it may have a red cover on it. (about 1/2") BUT... some skis didn't have it from the factory, so you may not even have a flush port.

ok i took it apart i got the starter in my hand now there is a spring on it with teeth at the end. and how i see it is that when it get power the spring engages to where the teeth comes out and hits the engine flywheel or i think thats what it call. now i put power to it and the starter engages but the teeth dont come out which is not hitting the engine flywheel is that my problem??

thank guys for your help....

Yep... that's your prob. It should be kicking out to engage the fly wheel. Make sure it's not bound up, or just rusted to the starter.

na its not rusted it actually does move like by hand i turn it and it does come out is there a way of fixing it or buy a new one.. one more thing when i tryed starting it. it was with a charger the battery was no good but it would turn over (starter only not engine )and then i took the starter out of the sea doo and hooked it up to a new car bettery just to see if it would work and what it did was it engaged for a little then it went back in the bendix. do u think i just needa new batter that has more volt power for it to engage??

Look to see if you have any place local that rebuilds starters. I can have them done around here for like 30 bucks.

Bad Battery?

Hi,

Just to be sure you could try jumping the battery from another vehicle. Sometimes the battery doesn't have enough amperage to engage the starter, kinda like when the battery in your car will run the lights, radio, but won't turn over the starter.

THIS IS IMPORTANT: WHEN YOU JUMP THE SKI MAKE SURE THE VEHICLE WITH THE DONOR BATTERY IS NOT RUNNING (you could destroy your MPEM, I speak from experience). ALSO DO NOT USE A JUMP BOX.

If the ski starts or the starter turns the motor over you need a new battery.
