think that hose ur removing at the "y", is the "RETURN" line. With throw'n cup of gas, in either arrestor, or like Karl said, plug holes, the motor try'n to start, will cause a vacuum effect, pull'n gas from tank and up to carbs...

The plastic pistons are identical. The black is the older model, while the white one is just new and improved. Also the nut on the black one is separate from the piston. The white one is attached to the piston as 1 molded unit. You can't get the black ones anymore unless it is old stock.

Karl

thanks for clearing that up

wirebrush or sandpaper ?

I use 400 sand paper, wet paper like body shops use, A little carb clean will work too to help remove the carbon build up. Sand paper will leave a smoother surface when done so the carbon build up will take longer accumulate next time. The carbon will have less to grab on if it is smoother. Don't do this project in the kitchen, do it in a well ventilated area, so no chance of a fire.

ok

see how the left one is raised up (open?) but the right one is not, it just falls down and closes when you release it with your fingers, the one on the left does not do that, i took it out just cleaned it put it back together and still wont go down on its own, the rubber boot on the inside of the rave valve static position seems to be open, so when i have it apart not connected to the rod and press it down it pops back up, is that normal ? because this cause the left side to stay open as you can see and the right to be closed ...

anyways battery is charged i am going to pop this one back in and do the fuel in spark plug trick see if she starts

The rave valve works on the principle that when the engine rpm's increase it allows the guillotine to open and let out the exhaust gases to increase the exhaust flow. The guillotine should drop down in place freely. Check the groves for a blockage. It must go all the way down to keep the port small at low rpm's.

ok mine new one the one on the left is popping back up because of the rubber piece inside, i will show u more pics after...

anways put get her, 2 ounces in each cylinder, and she would not fire..
hmm

i unplugged both sparkplugs, one hole has smoke coming out of it

Try it again...correct the rave valve problem first.

ok with the rave valve out, when you dont have it screwed in to the bottom rod, when i press down on the rave top piece, it pops back up like a spring, because the rubber is shaped to keep it that way, sorta like rubber from a plunger is shaped. I will post a video soon, need to go drop of wife

Be sure it's assembled properly...look at the parts diagram in the "parts" link on this site.

Karl

i did not take the top apart so i doubt i can get it wrong. i just disasembled the parts top middle bottom and washer cleaned it up and put it back together

ok first time i put 2oz which i though was much, this time i let it sit and dry, crank crank crank with 1/2oz in each cylinder and she motafaiki fired up!!!!!!!!!!!!! ok so now i connect the hose and let it run, starting it first then turning on the water correct?

springs...

you have the springs for the raves, correct...
first, it wont hurt, but get it fired up, get the fuel passing thru the filters and into the carbs. Let it sit and idle for 5-10 seconds, then turn off, hook hose up, then fire motor up, then turn water...

ok been riding all afternoon, what great fun, here is one thing i cant get the boat past 30mpg, with or without people in the boat, does not sound like its stalling or anything at high rpm, one more question what is the rev range i am going from 1500 idle to over the gauge at full throttle so past 8k

hey, glad t osee you got it goin. With tht kind ofRPM and no "thrust", checkthe clearance at the impellor. If you can see "light" around,in excess of 1mm/.040, then you need to install new wear-ring. WIth new, that boat will perfrom, the way you think it should...

The wear ring here sell for about $40.00 usd. Check out our "parts" link. You should be pulling pretty close to 50mph when running right. You should add your boat specs to your avatar, so we will remember what year and model you own. Use mine as an example.
Glad you got it running again.

i would but dont want to wait for 2 weeks till it gets here.. i wanna go boating this weekend, and would like to get in on friday, anyone know a place in south western ontario ???

ps i will def support the forum u guys rule ! :)

271000290

this is the OEM number for wear ring for yuor boat. Think I'd stick to it. If and aftermarket is what you want, then at least, get the one that cross-reference the oem #...
