I noticed that another member had advised getting paint here to paint my sea doo seat, handle bar covers and the plastic on the front of the boat.

My question for you is, it was suggested using all 3 products, the adhesion promotor, the paint and then a clear cote. What is the adhesion promoter for and what does it do? would you use a primer or simply spray the adhesive promoter on, let it dry properly, then the paint color, let it dry and then lastly the clear cote?

Will this product crack or break? What is the difference in this product over going and buying the Krylon Fusion paint instead of the above, any advice would be great.

3 steps usually better than one

I haven't personally ever painted a Doo before, but as an industrial painter by trader I can tell you that the 3 part systems generally outperform single stage applications hands down. I cant see any specifics on what product you are referring to ( broken link) but generally the Krylon is intended for average home use and not necessarily for something that will see as much use and abuse as your Doo. Heres your general paint procedure.
1) scuff... a red scotch-brite pad works best in most situations the better and more consistent the scuff the better you paint is gonna stick period.dot.
2) Tack cloth... Get all the debris from the scuff out of all the pores in the plastic/vinyl and rub it down with a plastic safe residue free alcohol to remove all grease oil hand prints, etc.
3) Adhesion promoter/primer... for plastics you will definatley want the adhesion promoter as it is what will actually react with the plastic/ vinyl and bond. follow manufacturers direction whether to scuff this or not
4) primer/intermediate/or top coat .. this step depends on what you are painting. for plastics this will be you color usually .
5) clear!!! almost done.. be careful it doesnt run...

also.. as for cracking and breaking on solid pieces it should be fine I am not sure about the seat though. as a material that will flex and be gotten on and of of frequently that be my biggest concern. Only one way to find out. Locally in my town we have several upholstery shops and I got all the seats in my sportster re-skinned for $160 and it only took 4 days so you might check that route as a seat for a ski is alot smaller. Good luck and I hope it works well for you.
