i tried to use oxalic acid on my hull to get rid on the the discoloration where i took my decals off and you can still see where the decals came off. any ideas? maybe my mix was off? do i have to do it on a sunny day or something? i heard this stuff works wonders but its done nothing for me so far. your input would be appreciated thanks.

Welllllllll..................

I don't think UV will make a difference. Also, it really only oxidizes other organics. It's good for removing a rust line... but if it's just some dirt and other lake nasty... it probably won't do anything. Also... if you have wax on your hull... it won't penetrate the gel coat.

Last thing... if this is the "Yellow" under the old stickers... it really won't do anything. That's old glue that stained the hull... and the surrounding area will be sun bleached, and oxidized.

If you are doing a full strip of an older boat... I recommend just sanding the gel coat to get rid of the stains, and then buff it out.

no it's pure white under where the decals were. it looks like sandin it is what i've got to do huh. i don't really want to it just doesn't feel right. any grit suggestions?

just use 3m heavy cut cutting compound and a buffer; go over the whole thing a few times then wax it and it will bling.

used it did nothing for me, but make the discolored spots and white shine. i need like real sand paper to get any results
