Been looking at jet boats since Feb boat show. Would love new but can't justify that much $$ sitting around. Found and '02 Utopia but then ya'll scared me away from the Merc engine. Found an '06 Challenger but then ya'll scared me away from the supercharger. Then saw Craig's post about possibly scrapping the whole jet boat idea and I even considered that! :)

Anyway, I found a '98 Challenger 180, twin engine 120hp motors, supposed to be a nice low-hour boat with new wear rings and batteries. It's 2 hours away so I haven't looked yet. Anything in particular to watch out for with this model/this old? Will this haul 4 avg adults/2 kids and still get me (180pounds) up on a slalom ski? Does $7000 sound reasonable assuming it's as nice as it's supposed to be?

Thanks for your opinion! Boats are a lot harder to buy than Jeeps! :)

I have a 98 speedster that is 16.5 ft with the dual 110's. It isnt as big of course, but this boat has no problem pulling or hauling anything. There wont be a problem with lack of power.

Price sounds high to me. Have you checked craigslist.com? Thats where I found my boat and the prices were very reasonable.
