I have read a lot about using good oil or people advising others to use good oil, but I don't know how to distinguish good from bad. I buy ~$30/gallon mineral oil; comes in a white plastic container. Is this considered good? I'm sure there's a debate out there about switching to synthetic. Anyone?

Wow! Thanks. I didn't know full synthetic low ash existed or was recommended for this ski. I will have to find out who carries it.

Full synthetic low ash and most important API-TC rated, personally I use BRP XPS-2. Also Quicksilver, PWC oil, same specifications is good, most Walmart Super Stores carry it.

Oops I did leave out the API-TC rating. Very important. I use mystik , carried at academy sports. But you DON'T want to get an oil debate started on here lol! Best thing is to just stick with the BRP oil

Amsoil Interceptor is another that can be used. A local indy shop near me sells it for $40 a gallon.

Yep, you can't swing a dead cat without hitting another oil thread, uh oh, did I say dead cat?

Can't believe we're this far through the summer with this few oil threads considering there was 1+ a week last year. As for your 97 xp, there's a sticker detailing all the oils NOT to use on the underside of the hood just above the oil tank. API tc rated low ash full synthetic is a must, there's a shop in the Pittsburg area that sells the seadoo brand cheap with free shipping at the end of the season.

honestly, no. the guy's dad owns a speed shop and sells amsoil tcw3 and nobody has had serious issues that i know of. i would personally use what is recommended though

This debate has now concluded. Thank you for your honest thoughts. I am off to find some of those oily fur-balls.
