Oil Tank Grommet

OK so my oil tank is leaking and it looks like it's coming from the grommet. I got the tank out of the ski but for the life of me cannot figue out how the fitting is attached to the tank. I tried to unscrew it but it just turns. I cannot see inside the tank to determine if there is a backing screw. If there is it would be impossible to get to. How does the fitting come off to replace the grommet?

Just pull the fitting out of the grommet, then replace the grommet by squeezing it together and pop it in the tank. Then put some oil on the plastic fitting and it will slip on the grommet.
