Hey ok so i tried to attach the oil pump cable and it was a success...now looking to adjust it any not really sure as the manual is not too clear
any one have instructions?

my problem that in mine there are 2 alignment marks!!
one is lightly and the other mark is almost like a crack or indentation on the control lever...so which one am i supposed to align it with..here is a pic that i could find showing the view. as you can see in this one there is that big gap almost like its cracked/chipped on the control lever so is that the mark or is it to the left of that mark which in this pic it doesn't show but in mine when i look with the mirror there is a clear mark.

now for adjusting...this engine hasn't run yet and i just installed the throttle and choke too...so now do i ensure its all adjusted properly and functioning they was its supposed to?

pic is not there, repost. select "go advanced" at bottom right. then "manage attachments" then upload the pic from your pc into the post

They get crap in them and stuff, but the true mark should be clear if you clean it up...maybe with a scotchbrite pad.

Dont fine tune it till you get the carbs adjusted though. the oil adjustment is the last thing. Just make sure its close.

reason i didn't post pic is because ebay for some reason won't let you save the pic...does this link work?

basically the problem i am having is there should be a mark on the lever but i see two points on the lever...there is one small mark and then there is this indentation so not sure which one should align

also where is the darn bleed valve?

the line...not the dimple.

The bleeder on the pump on that ebay ad is the flat head screw with the "rust" on it.

ok got it thanks....
now i need to figure out how the whole adjustment should be done..really confusing as it has to match up with the throttle cable...are there any instructions on the forum other than the manual which i have and don't understand.

also whats the procedure to bleed..this is a fresh rebuild engine, dry of any fluids.
should i just fill the oil tank, open the bleeder and crank engine a few times until oil starts to come out

Nope...just open it up for 30sec or so and let it flow onto a rag. this is only to prime the pump.

Pour a capful of 2stroke oil down the carbs and start it up; then open up the oil pump by hand to fill the lines fast.

Watch the oil lines as you do this; I have found a LOT of 580-720s with bad one way valves. If they are really bad the oil will not reach the motor b/c the pressure in the motor will push air back into the lines. The valves are the tube things coming off the pump that the lines connect to. If you take them off you can blow into them to check.

ok so just to make sure you know this engine hasn't been started after rebuild
so procedure:

fill gas and oil tank

pour cap full oil into carbs, start engine and open oil pump by hand ( do you mean push down on the lever only ? )

so whats the deal with bleeding then? is this also to be done? and how?

also with reference to this pic:

question:
where does tube B go and so far i see it goes to the oil tank and there is a inline filter...is this correct?
what connect to hole A
are the tube things you speak of those small tubes that are silver here...looks like the dude painted over these lines

The a tube is to feed the RV oil bath; you should have 2 1/2" tubes coming off the oil tank; the lower one connects to A, and the one that connects to the top of the oil tank connects to the other side the the motor under the exhaust mani.

Once those are connected you can fill the oil tanks. I would let it sit about 30mins for things to fill and air to escape. Leave the oil cap off too.

I think you would be pulling up on the oil pump lever...opening it wide open while the engine is just idling.

so why does B have some kind of inline filter and hooking to the bottom of the oil tank.
also there is another hose that is bigger and it fits on hole A that comes from the bottom of the tank, more proximal to the smaller hose with the inline filter if you are facing the steering

oh my my head hurts now..this is messed up lol
so wait the filter line should be going to point B in the picture?

Yes....exactly. Smaller line with filter to B, Larger line coming out of tank next to smaller line connects to A, and the line coming out of the top/oilsensor on the tank goes to the fitting on the motor under the exhaust mani.

ok i get it now..that part is clear.IMG_20111105_222526.jpg

where does that gasket go thats in the pic here (#5)

When you put the exhaust back on put all bolts in loose and do some sort of sequence...including the ones that support the pipe. If it binds up anywhere the bolts will either back out or snap.

The rubber bushings for the support should be in good shape with the big washers still secure to the bushings. If those are worn, again...it will cause problems with the bolts.

One thing I saw in your post #8 under the "attached image" are the gray tempo fuel lines.
These could be clogged up, so CHANGE all lines out before trying to start the motor or you could just plug everything up again. change them to BLACK auto fuel lines.

Good idea to add an in-line fuel filter too. Go to home page and scroll down to "how to" section look for adding inline fuel filter by Dr Honda.

i took the filter out from the front and there was just a bit of gas in there so pulled the whole thing out and i am glad i did. it was quite dirty so i cleaned it up good and the filter is in good condition so i will reuse it or just go to canadian tire and see if i can match it to an auto one.
i will add a inline fuel filter too .. thanks SDB

now for that gasket..this engine was put back together already so not sure if the guy missed this gasket or he put a new one in. do you think i should open it up to check?

Thanks Jake.....I noticed it since I just replaced my lines last August.

Is it your ski in your avatar? If so, who is the lady that you got to lay down on the seat?????? :)

that is the infamous Sis. I took that pic this summer when she came up to the lakehouse for a week

so this weekend is to take out the grey tempo and replace with black rubber fuel line.
i am going to get the 1/4" hose so do you guys think this is the right size. i was trying to measure the hose i took out of the carb and the inner diameter is 1/4" and the outer diameter is 1/2" so not sure what size. anyhow i will take the old hose and get the same fit with some stainless hose clips.

it seems like the hoses were not even in the right place but i gotta check the manual as i didn't make sense to me.
so let me see the manual and i will post here to confirm i got it right.

also searching for a inline filter and confused as to what line is should hook up to? i read the post on the site. so need help with this plz[

Here are the hoses and i cut the smaller piece to see inside. this is the one that when from lower side of MAG to PTO carb. Really glad i took this out cuz look at how bad it looks and there are some pieces that could have gone into the carb and caused a big problem with a newly rebuilt carb. THANKS seadoobuddy
