Oil in bilge

My 96 GTX has oil in the bilge. What a nasty mess. Yesterday I scrubbed it using dawn and bristle brush. It cleaned up OK where I could get with the brush, but it's hard to get around all the hoses and cables. I think I need a stronger cleaner to cut it. Any recomendations?

Now to figure out where the oil is coming from...where are the common leak points. Do I need to pressurize the oil system to find the leak?

I like Purple Power, about 50% mix, you can get it at WalMart, Advance, AutoZone.

As far as the source of the leak I would start looking at the oil tank, there is a grommet at the bottom of the tank where the oil line to the oil pump connects that tends to bulge over time, that is prone to leaking.

Castrol Super Clean is the original "purple" degreaser. It's what I use in my shop. I buy it in 5 gal buckets. It will make an old bilge look new. Just spray it on, and hose it off.

If you use it... DO NOT let it sit on painted parts. It will start to eat into the paint. It's not something you have to worry about... but you don't want to spray it on, and walk away.

yes

I 2nd the rubber grommet under the oil tank. It leaked on my 98 GTX.

I replaced the whole tank off ebay.

I used simple green... just elivate the front of the ski and get a hose.

also dawn might cut oil well...

Yep, tried Dawn, works OK, but not great. Don't see a local source for the Castrol Super Clean. The Clean-rite purple power seems to be more generally available. Wal-Mart, Advance Auto Parts, Lowe's...
Lowe's near me has it for $7.48/gallon. I'm going to give it a try.

Thank you all for your input.
